Van bucks from time to time?

I recently purchase 1 1996 plymouth voyager with 140,000 miles. had it for 4 wks. On two occasions it bucked back and forth when I tried to drive. made rattling noise when in drive. Then quickly recovered and drove lke there never was a problem. Any ideas what may be going on?
