Book detailing the end of the universe as two quantum fluctuations occurring less than a millimeter apart?

Looking for a book that describes a model of the universe as n-dimensional membrane, perhaps like a long sheet of paper laying on top of itself (shaped like a "U" from the side), and describing a scenario where the universe would collapse if two quantum fluctuations occurred simultaneously with a millimeter of each other ("rolling up like a scroll"). It may have been by Hugh Ross or one of his peers. I saw it while browsing through books on Amazon but now I can't find it.
