Would you put an lcd tv on a wall over a gas fireplace?

A natural wood burning fireplace generates too much heat for delicate electronics and expensive flat panel TVs. Gas fireplaces, especially gas fireplaces with gl doors closed are generally more for show than for heating and pose very little risk to a properly installed flat panel display.
